Prager 20120424 – 1 Still the Best Hope
Prager H1: Dennis’s new book, Still the Best Hope: Why the World Needs American Values to Triumph, is released today… One’s view of the Trayvon Martin case is highly dependent on race. Why?
Prager H1: Dennis’s new book, Still the Best Hope: Why the World Needs American Values to Triumph, is released today… One’s view of the Trayvon Martin case is highly dependent on race. Why?
Prager H3: Dennis talks to Joel Kotkin, a fellow at Chapman College, about how the promise of the Golden State has turned to brass… Venezuela, awash in oil, is suffering food shortages thanks to Hugo Chavez’s socialist policies… Was the arrest affidavit of George Zimmerman a political document, not an impartial court document?
Prager H2: The war on drugs has not been a success, but no war on drugs could be far worse… Have we become obsessed with birth and motherhood to the determent of our children? … Dennis talks to Charlie Sykes, popular radio talk show host in Milwaukee, about the Scott Walker recall vote. Next to the presidential election, this one is the most important. Who has the power – the people or big unions?
Prager H1: The Secret Service and GSA scandals are examples of our shameless society – not a good development. There’s no comparison between the evil that can be done by big government and big business.
Prager H3: Per usual, callers set the agenda. Issues raised include: would Norwegians consider capital punishment for the mass murderer who murdered 77 of his countryman, including many children; how did the ancients keep track of years; is breast augmentation against God’s will.
Prager H2: Having different passions is a key to happiness. Can you push yourself to develop new passions? Dennis thinks you can. Callers weigh in.
Prager H1: The LA Times published pictures of GI’s standing next to the blown up bodies of suicide bombers. The Pentagon asked the paper not to publish photos. What has been gained?… Bail was set for George Zimmerman. Will this case turn out to be another version of the Duke lacrosse case?.. Norwegian murderer, Anders Breivik, describes his crime in open court. He gunned down defenseless children quaking in fear. But there’s no death penalty in that enlightened society. The more progressive you are, the less you believe in punishment.
Prager H3: The Los Angeles school district, the second largest in the nation, has to lower its standards or most of its students won’t graduate high school. We spend more and more each year on students and get the same bad results. Nothing ever seems to change. Wouldn’t you think someone would say, “it’s time to try vouchers.”
Prager H2: Dennis bemoans the loss of the bookstore. Where do young guys pick up women these days? Allen has some ideas… The President says that he wasn’t born with a silver spoon, but wasn’t he given scholarships all through high school and college? Is it better get money from your parents or the government?
