Prager H3: John Boehner made a very effective rebuttal to President Obama’s speech last night. He was brief and effective… Mark talks to Shawn Steel, chairman of the Republican Party for California… Mark offers his dream Republican ticket. Callers weigh in.
Prager H2: The President went on a massive spending binge and now wants “the rich,” those earning more than $200K to pay for it. This is his “balanced” approach… Did you notice than John Boehner in his excellent rebuttal used a phrase Prager listeners are very familiar with: “the bigger the government, the smaller the people.”… When is the President going to stop blaming GW for all his problems?
Prager H1: Mark observes that it’s tough to listen to President Obama set up “straw men” – positions that he claims Republicans hold (but they don’t) — and then knock them down. He has done this over and over again in the Debt Debate.
Prager H3: Mark talks to Nicholas Carr, executive editor of the Harvard Business Review.
His new book isThe Shallows: What the Internet Is Doing to Our Brains… Should obese kids be taken away from their parents? (Lightning strikes in West Virginia where Mark Taylor broadcasts from interfere with radio transmission. The broadcast was cut short.)
Prager H2: Who is responsible for our massive debt? Our former President or our current one?
Prager H1: Mark Taylor fills in for Dennis. Mark analyzes the debt crisis… He wonders why anyone would call the mass murderer in Norway a Christian?
Prager H3: Per usual, callers set the agenda. Issues raised include: what does it mean to be African-American; how deep is the pain of losing a spouse; how do you know that you’ve found the right person.
Prager H2: Dennis opens up the lines. Issues raised include: how do you stay happy in such a bad economy; does exercise make you happy; do you need to reassess your life periodically; is there a difference between public and private happiness.
Prager H1: Every day there’s a new debt plan. The confusion makes it easy for the President to demagogue the issue… Bill Gates admits that we’re tossing away billions on solar energy deployment. Meanwhile, NY Mayor, Michael Bloomberg, gives $50M to the Sierra Club in an effort to destroy the coal industry. It won’t matter to the mayor, he’s a billionaire, but it will matter to a coal miner.
