Prager H3: The NY Times writes yet another editorial opposing capital punishment. This time they rely on retired Justice John Stevens to back up their arguments. But Stevens’ arguments, for all the certainty with which he makes them, are also unconvincing. The Left and Right live in different worlds on this issue. BBC Radio plans a full day of uninterrupted reading of the King James Bible to celebrate the 400th year of its publication. Naturally, the secular crowd is very upset.
Prager H3: Per usual, callers set the agenda. Issues raised include: why can’t we have eye for an eye justice; should a woman of 41 adopt or have a child biologically; is there such a thing as ethical monotheism.
Prager H1: The Los Angeles Times reports that Democrats are in “open revolt” against the President and his tax compromise with Republicans. It’s probably just a lot of sound and fury, but it does signify something. Have the unions managed to alienate even liberal politicians?… UK students are rioting over a tripling of their tuition. They’re so used to getting so much for so little that it’s a shock to their system. And what better way to express yourself than smashing windows and vandalizing property?
Prager H2: What is the best definition of success? Who is the successful person? What does it mean to be successful? Dennis offers his theory and callers offer theirs.
