What Do You Want to Be? | A Rosh Hashanah Sermon

Filmed on Rosh Hashanah 2024, Dennis Prager reflects on one of life’s most important questions: What do you want to be? Not what do you want to do for a living, but what kind of person do you want to become?

Drawing from his own desire to be an “easy” father and father-in-law, Dennis explores the importance of consciously choosing who we want to be. He considers happiness, faith, goodness, wisdom, courage, marriage, and family, arguing that becoming the person we want to be requires more than simply wishing for it.

In this thoughtful Rosh Hashanah reflection, Dennis challenges us to look beyond careers, success, wealth, and fame and consider what truly matters: Do you want to be a good person? A wise person? A happy person? And are you willing to work at becoming that person?
